Do I need tyres specifically for MINI?
The tyres you use do not have to be designed specifically for MINI, but they do need to be compatible in size.
Having said that, the best possible option will always be manufacturer-approved (or 'of original equipment standard') - these will be quality tyres that have been recommended by MINI themselves.

Should I opt for premium tyres for my MINI?
Choosing a type of tyre for your MINI may seem like a daunting task - there are lots of options available. Each tyre has its own set of benefits and costs.
Typically, the price ranges from Budget and Mid Range to Premium and Manufacturer Approved. So which tyres should you choose for your MINI?
Budget tyres
If you have a limited budget, these might be the best option for you. But as you might imagine, they are of a slightly lower quality than regular tyres and need replacing more frequently. This does mean that they can end up costing you more in the long run, so it can be worth thinking about your tyres as an investment.
Premium tyres
Premium tyres, on the other hand, are created with technical research in mind. Manufacturers like Pirelli, Goodyear, and Michelin use testing and evidence to create higher-quality, higher-performance tyres. Compared to budget alternatives, these will need replacing the least often.
Manufacturer-approved tyres
Manufacturer-approved or OEM tyres are the best possible option for any make and model of car - this is because they're specifically developed to meet the exact requirements. If you opt for these, you can rest assured that they've been tested on your MINI model so that you can rely on them in all terrains and seasons.
Expect a higher upfront cost for these - what you're paying for is not only excellent performance and safety but durability for the long haul. You won't need to replace these as often, so you'll be spending far less in the long term.
Other tyre options
Other than budget, premium, and manufacturer-approved, there are some more specific tyre options available. For example, run-flat tyres are made so that they remain inflated when punctured. Extra load tyres are a good option for people that are transporting heavy goods often.
